Abstract

GONZALEZ GAFAS, Carlos et al. Profile of the demand attended in Dental Clinics. National University of Chimborazo, 2018-2019. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2023, vol.1, n.53, pp.16-31. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i53.2361.

Epidemiological studies of oral health constitute an instrument for planning prevention and dental care programs. The objective of the study was framed in characterizing the profile of the demand attended in dental clinics of the National University of Chimborazo between the years 2018 and 2019. A descriptive, retrospective, quantitative study was carried out, with the participation of three populations (A, B and C). We worked with the entire population A and B, made up of teachers of training practices (N=32) and students of that career (N=342). C for 5742 clinical histories; of which, through a non-probabilistic induced sample design, 2897 files were selected that met the established selection criteria. In decreasing order, the types of treatment by specialty were root canals (583), pin placement (177), fixed prostheses (162), inlays (237), removable (155) and total prostheses (83). It was observed that the same patient may have undergone more than one procedure. The attention is free and open access, the people most attended were adults, youth and children. The most demanded services corresponded to specialized preventive and procedural treatments. The profile of the demand attended shows a relationship with the offer, except in the surgical area, since the characterized scenarios do not offer them. The type of portfolio of services offered is consistent with the guidelines of the current Health Model in the country.
