Abstract
LERMO SANDOVAL, Jenny Ivonne and CALIXTO CRUZ, Erika Patricia. Use of virtual platforms by nursing professionals to educate the oncology patient. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2022, vol.1, n.51, pp.193-208. ISSN 2528-7907. https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i51.2084.
Education is a transcendent activity to promote cancer patient care, so the use of virtual platforms has become tools that favor connectivity, maintain the possibility of continuous contact with the patient to provide necessary support and promote their self-care; in addition to reducing costs and time. This study aims to analyze the development of scientific evidence on nursing education through virtual platforms for cancer patients. The methodology was an integrative review, using 6 databases: PudMed, Alicia, SciELO, Embase, DOAJ and Google Scholar. Articles in English and Spanish from the last 7 years were included. The results found in 22 articles establish that digital resources are means that provide information and educate; therefore, the nurse must apply pedagogical strategies to assume self-care in cancer patients. It is important to highlight that education must be according to the type of patient both in virtuality and in person. It is concluded that nurses can include educational practices in daily activities, using digital resources to support cancer patient self-care, favoring their well-being and quality of life.
