CHIQUITO MACIAS, José Manuel y LOOR AVILA, Katty Johanna. Analysis of quality management systems: a look at universities. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2022, vol.1, n.50, pp.72-85. ISSN 2528-7907. https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i50.2155.
Quality in organizations is an essential strategic issue oriented towards competitiveness in an integral scenario, where universities are also deepening the strengthening of institutional management processes. The objective of this research is to describe and analyze the quality management systems in the Universities and Polytechnic Schools of Ecuador (UEP), through the collection of bibliographic information on the related concepts, types of methods and the most used standards. For this purpose, a data collection instrument was designed and applied to 22 higher education institutions to determine the quality standards applied in the execution of educational processes, and to verify the impact of international standards on institutional quality management. Among the main results obtained, the limited application of standardization in quality control and the use of non-formalized mechanisms stand out, which points to the need to strengthen the use of quality management systems applied to the university environment as an internal policy.
