Abstract

Nowadays, educational institutions must to train professionals with different abilities and competencies, stand-sufficient persons with critical attitude and abilities to solve real problems. The objective of this study is validating an instrument to assess the attitude and critical thinking self-perception of Engineering students from a public university. The methodology was qualitative, transversal, descriptive and not experimental. The sample was taken to 122 students registered in September/2019 - February/2020 academic period, besides with the participation of experts that evaluate the instrument. Instrument’s reliability and validity was measure with Cronbach’s alpha and content validity coefficient, the values were 0.828 and more than 0.80 respectively. The descriptive statistic evidence students want to achieve profitable knowledge in Programming’s problems and that will be useful in their academic training. About critical thinking, they self-perceive as people that express innovative alternatives and they difference real fact from bias. With these results it can be conclude the instrument is valid and reliable to be used in future researches; besides there is a relationship between the two variables
