Resumen

SALAZAR, Vanessa Elvira Loor; CAMACHO, José Abelardo Paucar  y  ROSILLO, Nancy Gissela Bravo. Perception of the risk of the population in the face of earthquake, flood and landslide hazard in the canton of Portoviejo. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2022, vol.1, n.50, pp.1-18. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i50.2003.

The perception that the population presents towards a certain hazard allows us to understand the position of those who have been affected by the materialization of a disaster, as a result of the interrelation of hazard and vulnerabilities existing in the territories, The objective of this research is to establish if there is a significant relationship between the variables of the data from studies of landslide hazard, flooding and seismic microzoning, as well as studies of the perception and social representation of risk in the canton Portoviejo, the methodology used is based on a review of information from bibliographic sources, the chi-square test was applied since the data did not present a normal distribution. As a result, it was obtained that there is a significant relationship in the earthquake and landslide hazard; while, in the threat of flooding, there is no significant relationship. This type of analysis provides the local government with guidelines to establish strategies for corrective and prospective intervention to reduce present and future risks, since it contributes to the strengthening of local capacities, enhancing territorial resilience to improve its prevention mechanisms in the face of existing threats in the region.
