ALCIVAR ZAMBRANO, Darío; ESPINOZA CENTENO, Ana and ESCOBAR SEGOVIA, Kenny Fernando. Impact of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on workers at a Guayaquil Hospital in 2020. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2022, vol.1, n.49, pp.63-73. ISSN 2528-7907. https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i49.1958.
Ecuador is one of the countries hardest hit by COVID-19 in Latin America and, consequently, the country's health workers are a group at high risk of infection, being related to occupational exposure directly linked to patient care, the objective of the study is to know if the level of occupational risk is related to the presentation of COVID-19 cases in the health and administrative personnel of a Hospital in Guayaquil, in order to be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the biosafety measures implemented in work environments, for for which a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out, and a total of the hospital working population was studied (n = 1220) and their contagious behavior were studied throughout the year 2020. Obtaining 58% of infected both for administrative and health personnel. It is concluded that the presentation of infections is not associated with the level of occupational risk. Leaving in evidence that the contagion of the disease is linked to the behavior of the population in self-care and relaxation of biosafety measures, which should be maintained despite the reduction in the presentation of new cases in the working population of the Institution.
