Abstract
ALVAREZ MUNOZ, José Santiago; HERNANDEZ PRADOS, Mª Ángeles; CARBONELL BERNAL, Noelia and BAUTISTA ARANDA, Rubén. Teaching numeracy and algorithms in the face of truancy: a case study. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2021, vol.1, n.48, pp.222-233. ISSN 2528-7907. https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i48.1762.
Faced with an educational reality in which absenteeism persists and is more common among pupils with late integration into the education system, the design of specific interventions is required to contribute to curricular equalization with their peers through the application of educational compensation resources. In this way, a personalized educational response is designed in mathematics based on the use of ABN methodology in the contents of numeration, algorithms and mathematical problem solving with a foreign student with a high level of school absenteeism. An observation record was used to assess the initial and final state of the contents taught, thus clarifying the evolution developed by the pupil. The results show that the learning of numeration and algorithms grew exponentially, although in subtraction there was some difficulty. In problem solving, the improvement was also considerable, but the type of comparison problems was not acquired with the same ease as the other types. This intervention highlights the need for teacher collaboration and the application of new methodologies and action research.
