Human Papillomavirus has been established as one of the most common sexually transmitted infections, associated with various types of cancer, including head and neck cancer, affecting men and women’s mucosa of the tongue, throat, tonsils, and soft palate. Affecting men as well as women. With a high number of patients living with oral cancer throughout the world. A bibliographic search was carried out from 2002 to 2021, taking main databases such as: Scielo, European Journal of Oral Sciences and others; also, official pages in health area, such as: The World Health Organization (WHO), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), American Dental Association (ADA), among others. The objective of this research is to carry out a bibliographic review on the Human Papilloma Virus to relate it to oropharyngeal cancer. The descriptive study concludes that the human papillomavirus is a predisposing factor associated with oral cancer.
