Abstract

The reality and evolution of digital media in Ecuador, its formats, narratives and content are part of this research; For this purpose, the year 2021 was considered, for presenting an unprecedented particularity, the global pandemic, caused by Covid-19, which abruptly changed the socio-communicational reality of the world, highlighting variables such as information demands and informational processes. In this context, two native digital media in Ecuador, La Posta, with headquarters in Quito and GK, based in Guayaquil, increased their prominence and number of Internet user visits on their portals, especially during confinement.

Through the implementation of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, observation procedures and comparative analysis, data and statistics were collected from these cyber media and the evolutionary changes in the practices, products and performances of digital journalism in Ecuador were scientifically defined.The new scenarios and technological innovations are unquestionable and influential realities in this article, in which, in addition, variables such as multimedia and work convergence, journalistic routines, formats, content and narratives in these digital media are determined. The results of this research will help to establish the changes and adaptations of digital media and journalists, in the constant technological variations.
