The objective of this research was to explore Children’s Literature as a creative process for the approach of Manabi cultural identity in order to study children’s ethnoliterature, recover it, make it known and promote literary creation with themes of the local cultural heritage. This exploratory study focuses its methodology on narrative review and on the application of motifemical analysis of the Manabita children’s ethnoliterature, based on the methodological proposal of Diana Toro Henao, from a focus on the significance of the text, to identify the central themes of these. The study of “María Panchita” collection of short stories was carried out, with the result that, is composed of four central themes: memories, nature, traditions and customs, and childhood. The research concludes that the creation of children’s literature with themes of cultural identity is of great importance to bring the child closer to its immediate reality and cultural empowerment and requires an arduous research process; in addition, that the texts analyzed are ethnoliterature with central themes that collect elements of the oral tradition manabita, creative process preserving cultural memory and strengthening cultural identity from an early age.
