La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo explorar la Literatura Infantil como proceso creativo para el abordaje de la identidad cultural manabita con la finalidad de estudiar la etnoliteratura infantil, recuperarla, hacerla conocer y promover la creación literaria con temas del acervo cultural local. Este estudio de tipo exploratorio centra su metodología en la revisión narrativa y en la aplicación del análisis motifémico de la etnoliteratura infantil manabita, basada en la propuesta metodológica de Diana Toro Henao, desde un enfoque de la significación del texto, para identificar los temas centrales de los mismos. Se realizó el estudio de la colección de cuentos “María Panchita”, teniendo como resultado que, está compuesta por cuatro temáticas centrales: los recuerdos, la naturaleza, las tradiciones y costumbres, y, la infancia. La investigación concluye que la creación de literatura infantil con temas de la identidad cultural es de gran importancia para acercar al infante a su realidad inmediata y al empoderamiento cultural y requiere de un arduo proceso investigativo; además, que los textos analizados son etnoliteratura con temas centrales que recogen elementos de la tradición oral manabita, proceso creativo que permite preservar la memoria cultural y fortalecer la identidad cultural desde edades tempranas.

The objective of this research was to explore Children’s Literature as a creative process for the approach of Manabi cultural identity in order to study children’s ethnoliterature, recover it, make it known and promote literary creation with themes of the local cultural heritage. This exploratory study focuses its methodology on narrative review and on the application of motifemical analysis of the Manabita children’s ethnoliterature, based on the methodological proposal of Diana Toro Henao, from a focus on the significance of the text, to identify the central themes of these. The study of “María Panchita” collection of short stories was carried out, with the result that, is composed of four central themes: memories, nature, traditions and customs, and childhood. The research concludes that the creation of children’s literature with themes of cultural identity is of great importance to bring the child closer to its immediate reality and cultural empowerment and requires an arduous research process; in addition, that the texts analyzed are ethnoliterature with central themes that collect elements of the oral tradition manabita, creative process preserving cultural memory and strengthening cultural identity from an early age.
