Urban tourism is not alien to the dynamic and active nature that tourism has from living differentiated experiences, for which cities have tangible and intangible attractions that make it unique for it, as is the case of the city of Matanzas with its important urban and cultural values. That is why this study aims to design a tourist route for the city of Matanzas, which contributes to the development of urban tourism, especially for the North American visitor. A mixed methodology was used, taking into account a materialist dialectical analysis in addition to techniques with a qualitative-quantitative approach such as: the survey, interviews, cluster analysis, among others, which should make it possible to contribute to the proposal of tourist routes that contribute to the positioning of the tourist destination Matanzas. The results can mean the presentation of a procedure for the elaboration of tourist routes and the identification of tourist resources that, linked by the route, constitute a tourist cluster that can contribute to the positioning of the Ciudad de Matanzas destination in national and international circuits.
