Abstract

SANCHEZ-CABRERO, Roberto. Adaptation to the educational field of future secondary teachers according to their academic area. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2021, vol.1, n.45, pp.114-129. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i45.1541.

This study evaluates the academic performance in the Final Master's project of future secondary school teachers in Spain according to their academic area of initial origin, since most of them lack previous training in the pedagogical field. The objective is to determine if the adaptation to the pedagogical field is different according to their previous academic field and, therefore, a greater differentiation in their initial pedagogical training is recommended. Apart from the academic performance and the academic area of origin, the study takes into account the modality of the Master's Final Project carried out, the training area of the director of the Final Master's Project and the coincidence with the student's previous academic area. The results show significant differences in academic performance according to the academic area of the student and the modality of completion of the Master's project. Students from economics and technology are the ones who show the greatest difficulties in adapting to the pedagogical field, while the Master's project of the State of the Question modality are the ones with the worst results. It is concluded that an education more adapted to each previous educational area of the student could be beneficial.
