Abstract

BENOIT RIOS, Claudine Glenda. Oral communication during the preparation of collaborative tasks: perceptions of pedagogy students. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2020, n.43, pp.36-48. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v1i43.1466.

Oral communication constitutes a crucial axis for the teaching-learning process in the classroom. The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of collaborative techniques for dialogue and consensus in the execution of discussion groups in pedagogy students of a Chilean university. The research was carried out at the end of the first school semester and had a descriptive character with a mixed approach. The analyzes include participation in a didactic sequence with collaborative tasks and answers to a questionnaire with open and closed questions. 32 pedagogy students with a specialty in language and communication participated, selected using the intentional non-probability sampling technique. The findings reveal that collaborative techniques strengthen oral communication and promote dialogue and participation. Furthermore, the alternation of speaking turns is a requirement for consensus, and oral communication generates a space for individual and group reflection. Finally, perceptions focus on the need to work tolerance, respect, and the ability to listen to differing opinions to achieve shared goals.
