Abstract

ESTRADA ARAOZ, Edwin Gustavo  and  GALLEGOS RAMOS, Néstor Antonio. Family functioning and social networking addiction in secondary education students of Puerto Maldonado. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2020, n.40, pp.101-117. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/http:10.36097/rsan.v1i40.1393.

Family functioning is a fairly important factor that affects the biopsychosocial development of each of the family members and prevents the appearance of risky behaviors, especially in children and adolescents. Therefore, it is necessary to create the conditions to make it as optimal as possible. The objective of the research was to determine the relationship that exists between family functioning and addiction to social networks in fourth and fifth grade students of secondary education at a public educational institution in Puerto Maldonado. The research focus was quantitative, non-experimental design and relational level. The sample was determined by means of a probabilistic sampling and was made up of 195 students to whom two data collection instruments were applied: the Family Cohesion and Adaptability Assessment Scale and the Social Network Addiction Questionnaire. The results indicate that there is an inverse and significant relationship between family functioning and addiction to social networks (rs = -0.843; p = 0.000 <0.05). It was concluded that inadequate levels of family functioning are related to high levels of addiction to social networks.

Keywords : Addiction to social networks; adolescence; family functioning; Puerto Maldonado; secondary education.
