Abstract

OLIVERA CARHUAZ1, Edith Soledad. Characterization of workplace harassment and the repercussions on educational institutions. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2020, n.38, pp.180-196. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v1i38.1152.

The origins of mobbing date back to the creation of work; However, during the last few years it has become more important due to the different problems that it can trigger not only in the lives of the victims, but also in the organizations and the society. The educational field is no stranger to this problem, since the mobbing experienced by teachers can affect the learning of students. For this reason, the present theoretical research compiles and analyzes previous studies, covering two fundamental subjects: the characterization of workplace harassment in organizations, in generic terms, and specifically, the development of this phenomenon in educational institutions. In this way, the objective was to analyze and describe the characteristics, types and consequences of work, as well as the development of strategies to counter this phenomenon in educational institutions. It is concluded that senior management plays a fundamental role in detecting and evaluating these situations so that they are properly managed to avoid serious consequences.

Keywords : Workplace harassment in organizations; consequences of workplace harassment; educational institutions and workplace harassment; labor relations; occupational health.
