VACA ORELLANA, Susan Catherine; MEDEROS MOLINA, Katiuska; ESCARIZ BORREGO, Liliam Iris y DIAZ RODRIGUEZ, Jorge Alberto. RISK FACTORS THAT AFFECT NON-PROLIFERATIVE DIABETIC RETINOPATHY 2018. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2019, vol.1, n.29, pp.58-65. ISSN 2528-7907.
In the Health Establishment Carapungo 2 in the period 2018, the problem was investigated that diabetic patients manifest with little interest in glycemic control assistance, in addition to those who do not know that they suffer from diabetes mellitus type 2, and this originates the presence of complications such as Diabetic Retinopathy. A pilot study was conducted to determine the risk factors that affect diabetic retinopathy in patients over 40 years of age, with a quantitative, documental-bibliographic, cross-sectional descriptive design. For the collection of information, the application of an Observation Guide was used as an instrument and the research technique was observation.
The main risk factor that prevailed in the onset of diabetic retinopathy is the personal pathological background, the most relevant being arterial hypertension, while the predominant habit of the population is sedentary lifestyle since they consider that performing household chores is a type of exercise, and nutritional status. by applying the body mass index it is concluded that despite having a considered weight within the range, the lack of physical activity develops microvascular retinal pathology.
