Dental professionals around the world are affected by various disorders in dental practice, stress, tension, bad postures and localized vibration, can contribute to problems at the level of the skeletal muscle system of the personnel who exercises it. These disorders may differ in severity from mild periodic symptoms to severe chronic debilitating conditions. Given this situation, it is necessary for dental staff to know the risk factors to which they are exposed, their effects and measures of protection and / or prevention. An extensive exploratory systematic review was carried out in the main databases, with the use of keywords with the aim of reviewing and updating the information of tendinitis as a professional and occupational disease in dentists, as well as verifying ergonomic risks and exposure time that dentists have to develop skeletal muscle type injuries. It is concluded that dentistry presents a great challenge, it requires the use of ergonomics in dental work. Ergonomics seeks to reduce physical and cognitive stress, as well as avoid postural disorders related to the practice of dentistry
