With the impetuous advance of knowledge, universities strengthen the importance of the relevance of their performance by the contributions that they are called to make to social development. This makes the incorporation of advanced technologies in the strategic planning of university work relevant. Among them, the management of human talent becomes a tool to boost the production, introduction and socialization of the most advanced knowledge in academic contributions to development, through the work of professors and researchers. This article aims to deepen the role of human talent management for relevant university performance, unveil the interrelation between human resources management, human capital and human talent, and their singularities in the university. The research is carried out in the context of the Ecuadorian university in times of progress of the IV Industrial Revolution. The study is carried out from the elaborations provided by complex thinking and systemic multidimensional approach. The importance of assuming the management of human talent in the different phases of university planning is revealed, and in interrelation with the triangulations that knowledge management incorporates into the performance of university substantive functions.
