In this work have been studied the actions carried out by the University San Gregorio de Portoviejo domiciled in the province of Manabí-Ecuador; from the educational component of Children’s Theater, with the aim of developing the skills of personal autonomy in children of initial age through children’s theater; an action research was applied during the period 2016 - 2017, which allowed us to collect data that demonstrate the importance of children’s theater as a means to work autonomy in children from 3 to 6 years old. A methodology was developed that included the representation of classic works, adapted in their content, message and focus, creating spaces where art and play helped them to increase their personal autonomy, the results of the autonomy skills displayed by the children were shared in a children’s theater festival.
