Abstract

SORNOZA MACIAS, Priscila Elizabeth  and  REBOLLAR SANCHEZ, Maricel Alba. STRATEGY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF READING AND WRITING IN CHILDREN FROM 4 TO 5 YEARS OLD, CENTERED IN THE ANALYSIS UNIT OF THE NEXT DEVELOPMENT ZONE OF L. VYGOTSKY. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2018, vol.1, n.28, pp.36-47. ISSN 2528-7907.

The development of reading and writing in girls and boys from 4 to 5 years old is of great importance as an essential tool of communication and thought. According to studies carried out by Vygotsky at this stage of life, infants are in the zone of proximal development (ZDP) of literacy as a result of an active relationship with their sociocultural environment; However, in educational practice, the behavioral approach to learning by simple repetition still predominates, and there is a discrepancy between the moment in which boys and girls spontaneously begin learning to read and write as a way to understand the information of the literate environment in which they live and the systematic teaching process carried out in initial education. This problem limits the potential development of the child’s language, which is why it is necessary for the professionals working in this field to have strategies that allow working with the ZPD. Consequently, the objective of this paper is to design a strategy for the development of reading and writing in children aged 4 to 5 years as an essential means of interaction with their environment, centered on the ZDP analysis unit proposed by Vygotsky. The design of the strategy was based on Vygotsky’s postulates about the development of language, it was assessed with expert criteria and some didactic resources were applied with satisfactory results

Keywords : Child language development; literacy strategy design; early childhood education; preschool literacy; Vygotsky and the ZPD.
