A questionnaire was applied to the parents about the diet and frequency of brushing of the children, which were coded to facilitate the statistical analysis. Schoolchildren aged 7 years had a higher incidence of caries. The presence of bacterial plaque and ceo index was higher in students from 7 to 11 years. The frequency of oral hygiene was significant in the groups of 6 and 9 years. The consumption of foods rich in sugar was predominant, presenting a statistically positive association for all the groups studied.
