The 2016 earthquake in Manabí caused irreparable damage to several public buildings, and the GAD Portoviejo, within its reconstruction plan, included the construction of new markets so that the affected merchants can exhibit their products under better conditions under the supervision of the public company Portomercados; Under this principle, the conditions of the merchants in the municipal markets were diagnosed, and the idea of implementing a Management Model for Merchants that allows to improve the management in these supply centers arose. This research was descriptive and explanatory to detail situations and determine the need to give sustainability to markets, the applied method was action research, the population in which the problem was investigated was 51 merchants, the techniques were applied direct observation, the survey, interview and discussion groups for information gathering and data collection. The results of the research indicate that a comprehensive management model must be met to raise the quality of service and the perception of customers towards the market, achieving self-sufficiency as merchants improve their income.
