Abstract

VIDAL FERNANDEZ, Pablo; QUIROZ PARRAGA, Miriam; NAVAS GUZMAN, Lidia  and  MURILLO BUSTILLOS, Hernán Patricio. SOCIETY AND CULTURAL IDENTITY MANABITA AND ITS TRANSMISSION IN BASIC GENERAL EDUCATION IN MANTA. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2018, vol.1, n.24, pp.24-33. ISSN 2528-7907.

This work aims to highlight the recreation of Manabí cultural identity in schools in the city of Manta. The research is developed under a mixed approach and with a multiple case study design. Interviews were conducted with nine teachers from private schools, prosecutors and treasurers to explore the subject. as a result, despite the fact that teachers lack, in many cases, prior training by the State, different strategies and cultural activities and artistic manifestations developed for the diffusion of the region’s traditions, symbols and spiritual riches are applied; concluding that there must be training programs for teachers, in such a way that these practices are inculcated with an adequate pedagogical approach that achieves a greater imprint and a feeling of rootedness much more effective.

Keywords : basic general education; artistic expression; cultural identity; Manabí society; cultural transmission.
