Abstract

MEDEROS MACHADO, María Caridad; BALMASEDA ESPINOSA, Carlos Eloy  and  BALMASEDA MEDEROS, Marilin. TEACHER´S PERCEPTION ON COLLEGE LIFE. A CASE OF STUDY IN ECUADORIAN UNIVERSITIES. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2017, vol.1, n.19, pp.78-87. ISSN 2528-7907.

The current university life poses major challenges for the academy and for the production process of ideas and knowledge construction (Planells, 2015). These challenges range from administrative requirements (Barnes, 2015), dichotomous structures of current IES, to the way it is understood and used technology based on the professional and personal development of students and teachers as well as the contradictions that are revealed among the new educational paradigms (Larrea, 2014; Morin, 1999), policy and organizational level (Chiva, 2014) of some institutions of higher education (Salaburu, Mora and Haug, 2011). This work aims to a critical analysis of the circumstances in the world’s universities and aims to assess how teachers surveyed perceive college life, criteria which were obtained by surveys to teachers from seven universities, a survey with closed and open questions , some with Likert scale, which offered a current vision of university reality. These results are from a body of recommendations for raising the quality of higher education and also notes the needs that are relevant to consider in order to establish the training of university teachers in higher education institutions.

Keywords : Teacher´s perception; university; educational quality; curriculum design.
