Essentially, the productivity of an organization is defined as the ratio between the outputs produced and the inputs used. Usually the terms productivity, efficiency and effectiveness are used interchangeably, but they are different from each other. Productivity arises when the activities and resources destined to the transformation process manage to add value to the derived results. Efficiency is a component of productivity, it is related to the use of inputs during the transformation process, and the effectiveness refers to the correction and improvement of production, namely, higher quantity or output quality. when conducting evaluations of productivity, efficiency and effectiveness, it is important to understand that they are relative concepts, that is, that a comparison with a referent or standard, which can be determined, both by a competitor or a related production unit, or by the measure of the changes generated in the time of the same unit of production.
