Abstract

VAREA, María Soledad. Public policies around the bodies of indigenous women in the Chimborazo province in Ecuador. E&c [online]. 2020, vol.2, n.11, pp.79-98. ISSN 2477-9245.  https://doi.org/10.37228/estado_comunes.v2.n11.2020.172.

This article analyzes, from an obstetric-gynecological violence approach, two situations around the intercultural state policies of the bodies of the indigenous women of the province of Chimborazo in Ecuador: first of all, the Culturally Adequate Childbirth, secondly, the criminalization of abortion. This discussion uses an approach to gender and state studies around the debates of policies of recognition, marginal state and colonialism. This research, although focused on the case of the Balda Lupaxi community located in Colta, contextualizes the situation of the sexual and reproductive rights of indigenous women in general through the use of surveys and observation in assemblies.

Keywords : Intercultural public policies; indigenous women's bodies; decolonial feminism; state margins..
