Resumen

MORALES ALONSO, Mónica Johanna. Colombian Afro-descendant movement in the 1991 National Constituent Assembly: from the politics of influence to the politics of power. E&c [online]. 2020, vol.2, n.11, pp.37-53. ISSN 2477-9245.  https://doi.org/10.37228/estado_comunes.v2.n11.2020.169.

This work analyzes, from a political sociology perspective, the participation of the Colombian Afro-descendant Social Movement (MSA) in the National Constituent Assembly of 1991. In this analysis two categories, the structure of political opportunity (EOP) and the policy of influence, helped to identify how this group participated in the institutional sphere, within the context of crisis and political violence that Colombia faced in the 1980s. This investigation reviewed specialized literature and press news; some Afro-descendant leaders were interviewed as well. Thus, this study defined the historic outline of MSA’s political participation and also identified the group’s repertories of collective action. From the above, this paper defined MSA demands for identity, economic development and land titling within article 55 of the 1991 Constitution.
