NOBOA GONZALEZ, María Fernanda. Ideological instrumentation of the myth in the writing of the threat: from the Phoenix to the Bald Eagle in prospective. E&c [online]. 2019, vol.2, n.9, pp.109-132. ISSN 2477-9245.  https://doi.org/10.37228/estado_comunes.v2.n9.2019.120.

Regional literature production on theoretical and methodological critical intelligence perspectives and particularly on the devices for writing threats to the security of States and other actors is still limited. In fact, the region has not drove enough on semiotic-discursive practices that reveal the mythical ideology of security threats. Thus, this work from a critical semiotic-prospective methodology is oriented to the understanding senses of threat derived from the Phoenix name of the military operations carried out in Vietnam in 1968-1972, El Salvador in 1981-1992 and Colombia in 2008. The theoretical line crosses the reflections of Ken Booth with some elements proposed by Yuri Lotman's semiotics of culture. The findings show the ideological instrumentation of the Phoenix myth as a discursive strategy for legitimizing the use of military means and intelligence in these counterinsurgent operations. They conclude in the need to build flexible and adaptable analytical modalities, with a clear prospective orientation, to unveil the ideological and mythical materiality of military operations and their implications for the long term, recognizing when venturing into a flourishing analytical field some elements will remain to be in depth
