Abstract

ORBE LEON, Jorge. Brexit and the European Integration Reversibility: lessons for Ecuador. E&c [online]. 2017, vol.1, n.4, pp.19-37. ISSN 2477-9245.  https://doi.org/10.37228/estado_comunes.v1.n4.2017.36.

In June 2016, more than the half of the United Kingdom population supported the exit of that country out of the European Union, matter that called into question the reversibility of the integration processes. The objective of the actual research is to examine the main causes that explain that exit and to identify the potential economic consequences inside the European Union and for Ecuador. Thus, it analyzes the fundamental tendencies of the international financial crisis and the way its “shock waves” shake de foundations of the European Union, altering the future development of the economy and global geopolitics.

Keywords : financial crisis; integration; European Union; Brexit; Ecuador..
