Abstract

GALVEZ MANCILLA, Elena. The social world beyond the human: multispecies relationships through contemporary Amazonian art. Índex [online]. 2023, n.16, pp.35-45. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v9i16.549.

This text addresses how contemporary Amazonian indigenous art is a possibility to investigate indigenous cosmogonies and their way of understanding sociality, which is made of multispecies political relations, exchanges between different worlds. The images contained in the exhibition Indigenous Ontologies in Political and Poetic Contemporary Amazonian Arts of the Forest show how different existences challenge the traditional separation between nature and culture, creating a space for a fluid exchange.

Keywords : Amazonia; memory; art; multi-species relationships; animality; vegetality.
