Abstract

POLO, Doménica. Transiting disability, collapse corporality. Artistic strategies for a narrative of disability through intimacy, vulnerability, and affection. Índex [online]. 2022, n.13, pp.100-118. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i13.475.

This essay explores the powers of self-figuration to critically reflect on the representations of disability. In this way, recent artistic projects are referenced in which intimacy and collective encounter become possibilities of disruption. Through collaborative photography exercises, the aim is to unlearn the notions of normality and the ideals of sufficiency in order to be affected by what makes us fragile and vulnerable.

Keywords : Disability; self-figuration; intimacy; normality; artistic research.
