Abstract

This article is a reflection on the concept of the tremendous and its link with certain contemporary artworks that think the relationship between technique and violence, from the materiality of its resources and procedures. The hypothesis that will be developed is that the tremendous could be named by the art insofar as certain artistic works and practices modify the communicative function of language, making their own material resources emerge.

Methodologically, the text has been organized in three parts: the first is a reflection on the relationship between the tremendous and the violence of technique into thinking; the second proposes to think about the relationship between violence and language from the following question: can the tremendous be depicted?; and a third part in which the hypothesis will be illustrated through the review of three Latin American artworks.
