Abstract

GRILLO, Andrés. (Non) Soft Cities. Índex [online]. 2020, n.9, pp.224-229. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i09.329.

Review of the curatorial text of “(Non) Soft Cities”, photographic exhibition of the artist Leonardo Portus held at the Palacio La Moneda Cultural Center (CCPLM), Santiago de Chile, between October 2019 and April 2020.

The investigative transit that Portus has had from his previous works, from installation to photography, is approached, emphasizing his continuous search, where architecture opens a dialogue with urban planning, history and landscape, in the field of contemporary and visuals arts. It also illustrates the origin of the name of the exhibition and it’s relationship with the events in Chile before and after the 1973 coup d'état, implying Portus's link with history, his method of work, his themes, and his way of making his objects, this time in tune with the findings, Duchamp, Benjamin and Ranciere, as an archaeologist of Modernity.
