Abstract

RIVADENEIRA C., Gabriela. Samuel Beckett’sArtistic Research. Índex [online]. 2020, n.9, pp.164-173. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i09.333.

The comparative analysis of two works of the multidisciplinary artist Samuel Beckett -The Unnamable(literary text) and Not I (video art and theatrical piece)-, of his statements and the work of two artists who influenced his work (James Joyce and StéphaneMallarmé) will lead us to distinguish in the creative process of Beckett the constitution of an artistic research (without disciplinary borders)committed to a precise idea of art and a radical artistic project that will distinctively mark his entire process and his becoming subject-artist.

Keywords : Artist-subject; jouis-sens; necessity; Beckett; The Unnamable; Not I; Mallarmé; Joyce; Deleuze; Rancière; Badiou; Sartre; Derrida; Benjamin; Zizek; Lacan.
