Resumen

BENALCAZAR, Corina. THE DREAM OF THE SECOND TO LAST SCENE OF THE MOVIE NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN AND AN INTERPRETATION OF THE POEM JOURNEY TO BYZANTIUM BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS. Índex [online]. 2020, n.10, pp.157-171. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.vi10.387.

This investigation proposes an interpretation of the second to last scene of the movie No country for old men (2007), directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. The film is an adaptation of the same name novel of Corman McCarthy (2005), and at the same time, this is an interpretation of the poem Sailing to Byzantium of William Butler Yeats (1928). Although the cinematographic result has a direct relationship with the novel, it also does it to the poem, however not in an evident way. Furthermore, this text analyzes both the second to last scene of the movie and the poem, in order to suggest a relationship between them.
