To publicize the activities of the ContraNaturas Collective at the Solidarity Culture Forum of Villa El Salvador in 2005, the visual artist Javi Vargas created a design with the image of Túpac Amaru made up as a transvestite. Then the ContraNaturas, with Javi Vargas as part of the collective, worked on a performance proposal based on the image of the hero wearing make-up, this character is nicknamed "The Tupi". This research analyzes the emergence and presence of the Tupi in Villa El Salvador, the symbolic power of this motif and the symbolic transgression in the creative process of Javi Vargas.
