Abstract

GALLARDO, Milena  and  MEDALLA, Tania. Towards a politics of insistence: trajectories and displacements of the Cueca Sola in Chile (1978-2019). Índex [online]. 2019, n.8, pp.192-200. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i08.292.

The goal of this investigation is to identify and describe the milestones that make up the trajectory of the Cueca Sola, understood as a praxis of dance and memory that constitutes itself as a tool for political interpellation in public spaces. To this end, it proposes to show the esthetical-political resources and strategies that permit the displacements and resignifications of this cueca. From this reading, the milestones that compose this narrative are: the first public interpretation of the "Cueca Sola" by the Folkloric Ensemble of the Organization of families of the disappeared, in Santiago's Caupolican Theatre in 1978, and its multiple versions as a tool of symbolic resistance during the dictatorship period; the performative intervention of Las Yeguas del Apocalipsis titled The Conquest of America, carried out in the Chilean Commission of Human Rights, 1989; and finally the labor of the Colectivo Cueca Sola.

Keywords : memory; dance; Cueca Sola; resistance; Chile.
