Abstract

LOPEZ, Gina Gabriela. Intersections between feminism, art and politics: A look at the “Advanced Scene” to deneutralize the signs of culture. Índex [online]. 2019, n.8, pp.118-123. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i08.262.

This article introduces the artistic production of women in Chile who challenged the military and patriarchal dictatorship, between 1973 and 1990, as part of the movement called "Advanced Scene". Based on the contributions of the francochilean theorist Nelly Richard, this text sets out the relationship between biographical authorshipand the gender representation, in other words with the fact of being a woman artist and the symbolic cultural records of the feminine. In this order, it problematizes the traditional interpretation of art produced by women and places the feminine as dissent, as an alternative and counter-dominant subjectivity capable of disarticulating the mechanisms of significance of hegemonic culture.

Keywords : women; art; politics; feminism; Chile; dictatorship; gender.
