This text gives a performative approach to Carolina Benavente’s book Escena menor. Prácticas artístico-culturales en Chile, 1990-2015 (Minor scene. Artistic and cultural practices in Chile, 1990-2015) (2018). In order to do so, the writing of this book is situated in the Chilean posdictatorial context; the “minor” traits of artists and artistic collectives approached are interrogated; and the notion of scene occupied by the author is explored. Through the lens of performance art, scene emerges as a mixture of actuation and expectation, as the body that writes hybridizes with the body that lives in what we call an “experiential curatorship”.
