Abstract

BATTEZZATI, Agustina. Generations of artists? Or how to set up an art scene. The discourse of Malba and Mamba on the 21st century. Índex [online]. 2019, n.7, pp.12-19. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i07.225.

Generations are socially constructed categories that define and demarcate artistic practices. When this concept is used in the discursivity by hegemonic agents of the artistic field, it is possible to demonstrate value parameters of art that are claimed to be established as legitimate. This article studies the operational use of the concept of 'generation' in the discursivity produced and disseminated by the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (Mamba) and the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba) with the aim of elucidating the proposed guidelines regarding the argentine artistic scene of the beginning of the 21st century.

Keywords : contemporary art; generations; museums; globalization; circulation.
