Abstract

MELENDEZ, Norma Angélica Avila  and  CANALES, Cristina Isabel Buendía. Mediati(on) contemporary art tactics. Índex [online]. 2018, n.6, pp.126-131. ISSN 2477-9199.  https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v0i06.183.

This text is an invitation to share ideas about mediation strategies in art museums and, in particular, about the possible uses of the museum by young people who live in cities in Latin America. It presents an educational mediation process at the Jumex Museum in Mexico City, designed by museum educators and teachers of visual arts for young people of high School, that allowed the identification of three core of discussion: tensions between the institutional purposes of formal education (school ) and non-formal education (museum); the mediation strategies to approach procedural and ephemeral practical art works; and the potential of contemporary art tactics to explore other possibilities to use of museum.

Keywords : museum code; young people in art museums; educational mediation; Museum Jumex; contemporary art tactics; museum users.
