From the curatorial proposal of María Fernanda Troya for the exhibition Seeing to Believe. Photography, ethnography, propaganda in the Ecuadorian Oriente (1893-1940) presented in Arte Actual, this article reflects on the assembly device as the "double exposure" of a methodology to investigate archives, texts and photographic images based on the questioning of historical ethnographic authority and the document value of photography.
