The present study aimed to evaluate the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in the hospitalization service of the Andino General Hospital from January 2017 through July 2018. For which, a retrospective analysis of 204 medical records was carried out. Mainly, drug interactions presented, the concordance of the treatment with the therapeutic protocols approved by the Ministry of Public Health 2012, and the existence of possible drug-related problems (DRPs) were mainly analyzed. The study population ranged in age from 54 to 81 years. As results, 286 prescriptions of NSAIDs were identified, with a majority use of Paracetamol (56.64%), Ketorolac (26.92%), Ibuprofen (10.14%), Diclofenac (5.94%) and Acetylsalicylic Acid (0.35%). Seven drug interactions involving diclofenac and ibuprofen were also detected. 54.41% of the treatments were not consistent with the national therapeutic protocols described by the MSP. 124 cases of DRPs were found, of which 55.58% correspond to receiving necessary medication, followed by quantitative insecurity (2.94%) and quantitative insecurity (1.96%).
