Resumen

DECLE, Jonathan  y  BRISENO, Hugo. Trust and crime propensity in Zapopan. Revista Economía y Política [online]. 2023, n.37, pp.117-127.  Epub 30-Ene-2023. ISSN 2477-9075.  https://doi.org/10.25097/rep.n37.2023.07.

The objective of this research is to note that generalized trust is one of the factors associated with crime propensity from a sociological perspective. A face-to-face survey of 400 households in the Mexican municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco is carried out to know their perception of different realities, among others, their level of social trust and their propensity to break the law. Through logit models, it is found that education and age have a significant negative relationship with crime propensity; while the variables corruption and mistrust have a significant positive association.

Palabras clave : Crime propensity; distrust; generalized trust; social trust.
