SANCHEZ TOBAR, Ana María; ORTEGA GAVILANEZ, Emilia Betsabe; RIVERA BADILLO, Pilar Lorena  y  MOYA PINTA, Diego Armando. From a Popular and Solidarity Economy towards a Social and Community Economy: Ecuador as a case study. Revista Economía y Política [online]. 2022, n.36, pp.113-138.  Epub 31-2022. ISSN 2477-9075.

The aim of this research is to make a diagnosis of the Popular and Solidarity Economy (EPS) of Ecuador that serves to propose a referential framework of a Community Economy. A bibliographic research methodology is applied with secondary and tertiary sources, and a literature review of concepts and definitions of economics, especially those different from traditional economic thought. We have found important and relevant evidence of progress in associativity that is a medullary part of EPS, mainly in the agricultural area. Agricultural EPS grew 83% between 2012 and 2018, and 3.8% between 2019 and 2021 despite the crisis caused by the global pandemic.

Palabras clave : Community economy; popular and solidarity economy; agricultural sector; cooperativism; COVID - 19.
