Abstract

VALDEZ-SARABIA, Magaly. The chavista paradox: development model, state and political action. Revista Economía y Política [online]. 2022, n.35, pp.76-95.  Epub 31, 2022. ISSN 2477-9075.

The article establishes the relationship between the variables "development model" and "political action" in the analysis of the phenomenon of Chavismo. It is a report on the state of affairs in the field of political economy that links the "redistribution of resources" with the "democratization of oil" to explain the role of the state benefactor. After the bibliographic review, the article concludes that, in the last 20 years, the following paradox has arisen: while the Bolivarian project finances itself from extractivism, it employs compensatory policies that, far from addressing the structural flaws caused by rentism, exacerbate the crisis and they strategically prepare the ground for a stakeholder relationship mediated by oil incentives.

Keywords : Venezuela; democracy; state; politics; economy; oil..
