ROSAS SALAS, Fernando X.; ESPINOSA OCHOA, Olivia P.; RUBIO DIAZ, Myrian P. e JARAMILLO VILLAGOMEZ, Jorge E.. Deciphering the dominant and preferred culture in the university from the Values Model by Competition. Revista Economía y Política [online]. 2020, n.32, pp.11-41. Epub 08-Jul-2020. ISSN 2477-9075. https://doi.org/10.25097/rep.n32.2020.01.
The objective of the work was to decipher the dominant and preferred culture in the university environment, from the Competency Values Model (MVC), applied to two faculties of Administrative Sciences. The hypotheses were: (1) the culture of the two organizations responds to a combination of different cultural types, (2) there is a similar dominant culture; and, (3) the organizational culture is similar. The validation instrument (OCAI), after having tested the reliability and validity of its indicators, through the Cronbach's Alpha test, was applied to 93 respondents. The similarities in teachers' and administrative staff's perceptions of existing and expected cultures were empirically validated through a factor analysis that revealed a combination of hierarchical, market, adhocratic, and clan cultural types, in that order; and, a hierarchical dominant culture. Possible organizational changes can be configured based on the diagnosis made.
