Corn is a crop of economic importance worldwide. The genotypic and phenotypic characteristics are affected by the environmental conditions where the plant is exposed. The objective of the research was to evaluate the development and performance of the corn crop, using four corn hybrids, during the period November 2015-February 2016. The trial was developed in the parish of Luz de América, province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador. The fertilization and pest control of the crop was similar in alltreatments, the hybrids were: Trueno-NB-7443®, Iniap-H-551®, Pioneer-F30K35® and Gladiador-DOW-2B-688® which are offered as the best options of genetic material in the area, were evaluated the variables yield per hectare, length of the cob, diameter of the cob and weight of the cob, number of leaves, height of the plant, height of insertion to the cob, and cobs per plant. The best developed hybrid was Pioneer-F., expres sing high yields in terms of production per hectare; while Trueno-NB., and Iniap-H., occupy non-significant ranges, Gladiador DOW 2B-688®, is the least potentialized. It is concluded that during the evaluated period of time, the hybrid that better develops and generates the best yields, under the agro-climatic conditions offered by the zone of Luz de America, province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Ecuador, was the hybrid Pioneer F30K73®, being one of the best options that the farmer has, at the moment of choosing a genetic material to cultivate, within the evaluated period.
