This paper describes the process of urban expansion in Quito. Foe the analysis, the main events that marking the current reality of Quito are taken into account. The concrete facts that shape the degree of importance of the capital for Ecuadorians. It recognizes the performance of the municipal governments in turrn through the public policies and management tools that built the public leisure spaces within the configuration of the metropolis. The plans and ordinances presented determine the impact on the configuration of these places.
